Chloe + Adam

Their guide to eloping in Scotland’s famous Gretna Green

Whether you love Scotland, romanticise about marrying your love amongst Scotland’s culture and landscape or are just a huge fan of Outlander then Gretna Green is definitely a perfect contender for a runaway Scottish elopement!

I asked Chloe and Adam a few questions on how they both found their day and why they trusted my suggestion on stepping outside the norm of Gretna Green weddings + elopements to travel to the Moffat hills for the most epic and emotive images…

“Having our hearts set on Gretna helped make it super stress free. Once it was booked, the team at The Smiths Hotel made everything really easy helping us arrange the venue; The Famous Blacksmith Shop and by arranging our ceremony.

The Smiths Hotel also provided us with contact details for local companies such as hair + beauty, photography options and transport. We opted to use Spoilt Hair & Beauty, who are located within the hotel. I can’t compliment them enough on making me look and feel gorgeous on the day.

We decided to head to location for photographs as we wanted something unique that further showed the spirit of Scotland and we didn’t just want typical ceremony photos. We wanted photos that resonated more with us as a couple. Even though the rain was torrential and its was freezing cold, we couldn't be happier, we loved every minute of it and can’t believe how brilliant the photos came out.

Our two stand out moments of the day were the hand-fasting ceremony performed over the anvil. With the second being at Grey Mare’s Tail for our photos - this is not something we will ever forget.

The only thing that we wish we’d done differently was to explore the area more and maybe had some photos at the love lock sign”.

It was such an honour to capture Chloe + Adam’s elopement. I thank them for giving me their trust to deliver an experience they’d never forget, to capture their love story in thee most spectacular form and to give them photos that will last a lifetime to relive such a spectacular day!

When you think of Scotland’s capitol, you immediately think of Edinburgh Castle and Edinburgh’s Old Town. Steeped with history, beautiful architecture and an abundance of photo opportunities around each corner you turn - it’s the perfect location for a city elopement.

Not many couples can say they married in Edinburgh Castle but what a pretty epic story to tell!

GLENCOE, SCOTLAND

My favourite place in the entire world!

Whenever I have the chance to photograph weddings, elopements or adventure sessions in Glencoe - I jump at the chance!

Glencoe is jaw dropping, epic in all ways and a popular choice amongst many couples in love. So when Kerryn and Darren asked me to capture their Glencoe elopement, I was overjoyed.

They said their I Do’s at St. John’s Church in Ballachulish, then we headed out onto the epic scenes of Glencoe for those dreamy cinematic shots.

ISLE OF BUTE, SCOTLAND

A beautiful island elopement!

Jana and Sean, both from Isle of Bute asked me to head over and capture their beautiful elopement. They both married at the local town hall, then we headed off to their favourite beach on the island.

It was such a beautiful spring day and those views of the Isle of Arran, were to die for!
